The Hunger Games

I read the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins in Sep 2011.

I generally like science fiction books that try to establish some sort of variation on society. This one does have a sort of believable post-apocalyptic society that just might have happened. Here's the write up on Wikipedia.
The Hunger Games - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

It is written as a "young adult" version of science fiction. So it
doesn't seem to have gratuitous sex and violence -- but it does have enough violence to make it suspenseful. The story line is simple, but I think the the way the author handled the thoughts and descriptions made the story very interesting.

I then read the second and third books of the trilogy: Catching Fire and Mockingjay. They were truly sequels, and involved many of the same characters, situations and the "world" as defined in Hunger Games.  While there were a few "twists and turns" in the sequel stories, they were somewhat predictable.  In the sequels, I would have liked it if Suzanne would have explained a little more about how the "Government" worked.  I also thought the ending seemed to wrap up too quickly, with too little development or description.  It seemed like she had run out of pages so she crammed the ending into as few pages as she could.

I will be interested in seeing the movie which comes out in March 2012.
